Welcome Letter

Dear Parents & Students:
 
I am so excited about welcoming you to the 5th grade! I am also looking forward to working with you, the students and your parents in helping you reach your full potential. Although this is my second year here at Liberty Drive Elementary, I am going into my 15th year as a 5th grade teacher. I am your child's homeroom, and  Language Arts teacher. Your child will be receiving Math instruction from Mr. O'Neal, and Science from Miss Houchins.
 
To guarantee your child, and all the students in my classroom, the excellent learning climate they deserve, I am utilizing the following discipline plan.
 
My Philosophy
All students and teachers have the right to be treated with respect, to feel safe, and to work in a positive atmosphere. All students have the right to listen, and be heard without interference. I believe all my students can behave appropriately and I will not tolerate behavior that stops me from teaching and/or any student from learning.
 
Our Rules
  1. Show respect for yourself and other always
  2. Behave in a safe, orderly manner always
  3. Be responsible
  4. Follow directions
  5. Use good manners
Consequences
  1. Have in-class time out
  2. Loss of privilege
  3. Be timed out in another location and/or phone call home
  4. Severe violations will result in immediate office referral
Rewards
  1. A quality education
  2. Praise
  3. Special privileges, treats, and participation in Good Behavior celebration
I believe that communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship.
